Take part in World Children's Day

20th November, 2020

World’s Children’s Day has arrived! This special day is an annual celebration created by UNICEF to allow children to be the stars of the show for one day. This is an annual day of action for children, by children.

It is a day of action to advocate and raise awareness on the issues jeopardizing children’s rights, to give kids the right space to express their views and support them in reimagining the future and acting for a better tomorrow.

This year, more than ever, children need our help to make changes which will benefit their future, there are many ways you can get involved and help the children in your life. As a society, as a community, and an individual, we can all contribute in our own way to making the world a better place.

There are many ways you can celebrate the special day, here are a few ideas you can do with the whole family:

  • Go for a family adventure walk – let your children take the lead and follow their directions.
  • Let your little ones plan the day – eg. Choosing what you have for your dinner, what movie you watch together or even choosing how the whole family dresses for the day!
  • Time to go blue – All over the globe national buildings will be turning blue to mark World Children’s Day, you could decorate your home in your favourite blue items, dress in your favourite blue outfit or experiment with blue themed arts and crafts activities.
  • Time to listen – This may sound like a simple activity, but it is important to take some time out from your busy schedule and allow your children to talk about whatever is on their minds, especially on a day which is dedicated to children.

You can find out more about World Children’s Day and access learning resources here. We hope you have a wonderful day celebrating this special day, you can share your updates with us here.
