Acts of Kindness Challenge

9th September, 2021

Some of our amazing fostering families have taken part in an acts of kindness challenge.  Here’s one family’s wonderful experience of brightening up other people’s day.

All three children in the household were extremely excited to be involved, with all of them thinking about who they might want to share their act of kindness with. As a collective decision, they all chose the police force as well as their ideas of individuals they’d like to show kindness to. After a visit to Tesco to purchase gifts, they went out on their adventures!

Kindness 1. The police station.
M, D and J all took a box of Heroes chocolates to the police station as they thought they were all heroes. They were greeted by a police sergeant who was extremely grateful for this kind gesture. He said he was going to share the chocolates with his team who had been busy all day. All the kids had a question to ask and were so excited to hand the chocolates over.

Kindness 2.
D wanted to give some food to someone less fortunate than herself and her idea was to give a milkshake and some chocolate cake to someone who was homeless. They travelled into town where they found a man sitting outside the supermarket. D was very proud to hand over these goodies and share a smile with him.

Kindness 3.
J wished to share some happiness with an elderly lady. On their visit to the beach, they found a lovely elderly lady with her husband out on their daily walk. J handed over a bunch of flowers with a homemade card and some chocolates. It certainly made this lady’s day and she thanked J for this wonderful surprise.

Kindness 4.
M loves animals so wished her act of kindness to be for someone out walking their dog. M found a lady out walking with her elderly dog on the beach and handed over a bunch of flowers, a homemade card and some cake. This took the lady by surprise and she couldn't believe she had been chosen for M’s act of kindness.

All three children said "It feels amazing to make someone smile."
