How Much Do Foster Parents Get Paid?

Looking to transfer fostering agencies? Learn how much foster parents get paid while working with Excel Fostering today, and see if you’re ready to make the transition.

Here at Excel Fostering, we provide a highly competitive ray of pay – making our foster carers some of the best equipped in the country. We make it our priority to invest in you – having your development and wellbeing at the forefront of our values, which is reflected in our weekly fostering allowance. So, how much do our foster parents get paid?

What are the fostering allowance rates?

  • Standard placements - approx. £400 per week
  • Respite placements - approx. £400 per week
  • Therapeutic foster placements - approx. £500 - £575 per week
  • Parent and child placements - approx. £650 per week

Starting at approximately £400 a week ranging up to £650 a week, our fostering allowance for carers is higher than the minimum national foster parent allowance of £132 - £231 per week. This is all dependent on your level of experience as a foster carer, and your training – for example, a therapeutic foster parent will likely be paid more than a standard placement would, as this would require a more specific skillset.

By transferring over from our current agency or local authority, you will not only be able to harness more financial security – but also experience a higher level of fostering support and training. This is due to the additional resource available from an independent fostering agency compared to what you’d likely receive from a local authority.
