Here at Excel Fostering, we pride ourselves on our extensive fostering training programme and support system. As a family-feel agency, we’re able to guide you every step of the way through your fostering journey – whether you’re new to fostering, or looking to transfer over from another independent fostering agency.

Fostering training

As a foster parent with Excel Fostering, you will take part in continuous training and development schemes in order to help you become the best foster carer you can be. We provide fostering training courses in a variety of areas, including:

• Paediatric Emergency First Aid
• Managing Behaviour
• Child Protection & Safeguarding
• Logging, Recording & Data Protection
• First Aid
• Safer Caring

Fostering support

When you transfer over to Excel Fostering, we recognise that fostering, like all jobs, can sometimes be challenging. That’s why we’re proud to offer a wealth of continuous and thorough support throughout your fostering placements:

• A network of foster carers in your area supporting each other
• An assurance from us that we will listen to you and your needs and work hard to support you in a professional and friendly way
• Phone calls and visits from a dedicated social worker as regularly as needed, but generally every two to four weeks
• Training in all aspects of looking after children with challenging behaviours
• Fun social events for carers at least twice a year
• Up to 14 days paid holiday per year
• Out of Hours service that gives you access to a social worker who knows about you and your placement, 24 hours a day, every day of the year
• Competitive fostering allowances

Once you’ve completed this, we will put you in touch with a member of our expert team. Our staff will then organise a home visit with you to discuss the next steps, and what the process involves.

Already have a foster child placed in your care? Don’t worry – our team are excellent at working closely with your current agency, or local authority, to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.
