It’s a Dog’s Life

27th January, 2022

A glimpse into the life of a Fostering Support Worker’s dog!

As January is Walk Your Dog Month, Jasper, my 8-year-old Jackapoo thought that you may like to hear about some of his adventures as he joins me in my work.

Monday

We have a bit of a long drive today but once we get there, we go for a lovely long walk through the woods with S.
S is a lively and energetic 6-year-old and she likes to hold my lead and run with me. I like a good run as much as the next dog, but she tires me out! She likes to paddle in the stream in her wellies, but I stay on dry land as the water is way too cold for me at this time of year!

Tuesday

We drive over to the coast today and take a walk on the beach with K.
K loves to collect shells and I love to run on the sand, so it’s the perfect trip. We also got the chance to see the sun set over the sea. The colours were amazing!

Wednesday

We visited the Sculpture Trail near my home with E today.
I take this walk many times but there is always something new to see and smell each time I come. E had not been through the sculpture trail for quite a while, so she loved looking at the art and seeing all the stones which had been painted by the local primary school children.

Thursday

I’m not sure what happened today but I was left at home! I was most disappointed to miss out on a walk with one of my young friends and I had to make do with a walk around my local fields at lunchtime with my favourite dog walker!

Friday

Very excited to be going out again. Today we were out with L who loves to be in the woods kicking leaves and building dens! He doesn’t want to hold my lead when we’re out as there are so many more interesting things to do, but he loves it when I rest my head on his knee in the car after a busy afternoon of adventures.

I know there is a lot of talking goes on whilst I’m making the most of the great outdoors, but I think we all feel better for being out in nature and enjoying the moment!
