Home Visit

Arranging A Home Visit

After expressing an interest in fostering, the next stage in the process involves one of our team members visiting you and your family at your home or virtually. The aim of the visit is to find out more about you and if the house is suitable for future placements. You can also use this visit as an opportunity to ask us any questions you may have.

  • During the visit, an experienced member of our team will discuss your aspirations to become a foster carer. We'll provide you with information about fostering and we’ll discuss the reasons why foster carers are needed and how being a foster carer makes a difference to children's and young people's lives.
  • We will also assess your home and outside space to get a better understanding of how any child/ children would benefit from living with you.
  • You will also be asked to tell us more about your immediate family and who lives with you in your home, which will help us to start preparing for your application and assessment process.

This part of the process provides you with the opportunity to ask as many questions as you want to and need to, so you can get an understanding of the role of a foster carer and the impact this could have on your life and the lives of your friends and wider family.
